Well, I've been doing a lot of browsing at seats and I guess I need to stop eating fast food for lunch cuz I dont seem to fit in 98% of the seats out there....
I was at Wine Country Motorsports today and I sat in the Sparco Evo 3.. Great seat, I loved it, fits great. But with all the brackets, sliders, it's $1,000. Thats a lot of cash.. (shoes string budget here..)
I keep going back to the Corbeau. I know its tube frame etc.. but for 4-5 track days a year and some local driving, I can't help but think that it would be adequate, and it's $300 shipped. Also, I figure, after a year or so, I could probably sell it for close to what I will have paid for it.
I know you get what you pay for yada yada... I've heard good and bad about the Corbeaus.
Opinions please...... _________________ Mitch S.

I would recommend looking at the Cobra seats.

Furthermore, PBOC will not let you run harness belts with a stock seat. So, I have to buy a seat... Any other opnions?? _________________ Mitch S.

I am also looking for a reasonably priced seat for the passenger side so I can give rides someday. I hate to use my spare 15" Kirkey circle-track seat as that only fits a few narrow folks and isn't really comfortable. _________________ Mike Bell

I have scoured the internet for a less expensive seat that meet the same dimensions as the Sparco Evo 3, and I really cant find one.
I might have to just bite the bullet and drop a grand on it... _________________ Mitch S.

I'm not that familiar with Sparco Evo 3 seats but these seats from Corbeau seem like a reasonably priced bunch you might want to consider:

I've done a lot of homework here Mike.
The Corbeau is ok but not so much for the track. Its not FIA approved and it has a tubular frame. They say the tube frame is no where's near good enough for a track car. I've also heard that the material fades badly and it flexes to much...
Which leads me back to the Sparco... _________________ Mitch S.

Mitch,
I'm not doubting your effort/knowledge, just trying to help. My research showed the Forza and Forza II to be FIA rated. I had a buddy who raced with one for two years, it appeared to hold up well but it might not be everyone's experience. He did say it flexed but I thought that was intentional as it wasn't allowed to put a back brace on it or he'd lose the FIA rating. I used a Kirkey delux road race seat for a few years and enjoyed that one also.
Good luck with whichever one you decide upon! _________________ Mike Bell

Thanks Mike...
I'm getting a little frustrated. The Sparco evo3 is 26 inches wide.
From the center of the seat to the door panel (sill) is under 12 inches...
Does this mean the evo 3 will not fit??
Is anybody running the evo 3 in a mustang with the door panels still in?? _________________ Mitch S.

An FYI here,
If you get a seat and mount it to the stock slider in your mustang, it will eventually break. The lateral loads of a "Performance" seat are beyond the design of the stock seat sliders.
Best seat I have is the Kirkey delux road race seat mounted on a fixed frame. Install a removeable steering wheel to make getting in and out easier. _________________ Wayne |

I would not rule out the Kirky's. But I still do some weekend cruising... _________________ Mitch S.

Back in the day, I drove my '90 LX on the street with a 8 point cage, kirkey circle track seat, full RR suspension and a 9lb supercharger. I had to be REALLY careful well withing the speed limits because the police really wanted to pull me over and often followed me for miles. I got pulled over once just because my front license plate was not reinstalled after I had the bumper cover repainted.
The Kirkey RR seat is easier to get in / out of than the circle track seat having wrap around rib cage support. _________________ Wayne |

Well, I finally got my Sparco Evo 3 installed today...
I got the side mounts with sliders and a universal floor mount...
What a MAJOR PITA to make the floor mount line up with the sliders. Being that the sparco 3 is wider than the others, the mounting holes in the sliders lined up directly over the steel rods that held the frame together..
Hard to explain, but after 3 hours of cutting, grinding, welding, we finally reconstructed the floor mount to work... It was major surgery.
Now I just have to mount the sub belt and do some fine adjustments...
